The $124 billion secret welfare program you've never heard about

May 16, 2013 (NaturalNews) To be sure, there are many Americans who, through no fault of their own, have become disabled through physical or mental illness over which they had no control. That's what Social Security's disability benefit was established to address - to help Americans with legitimate assistance for a legitimate disability. But in the Age of Obama, a president who has never met a government program not worthy of expanding (think of his ending the work requirement in the 1996 welfare reform law), America is being "fundamentally transformed" into a dependency nation, and the disability program is just the latest tool the president and his Big Government allies are using to fleece taxpayers and buy more voters. Per National Public Radio: In the past three decades, the number of Americans who are on disability has skyrocketed. The rise has come even as medical advances have allowed many more people to remain on the job, and new laws have banned workplace discrimination against the disabled.

April 11, 2013 Bankruptcy now looming for another social help program The stories are many, and this is just one: It seems there was a psychiatrist who reported about a woman who was “disabled” when a casino money cart fell on her leg in Reno. She still managed to play basketball, crawl about under her car, carry heavy groceries and tote luggage around. But she developed a limp and used a cane just in time for a hearing on her disability benefits. There currently are 14 million Americans on disability payments, up from 4.3 million in 1990.

In March 2011, state child protection investigators took 14-year-old Marie from her mother, Doris Freyre, claiming Doris' own disabilities made it almost impossible for her to care for Marie, who suffered from seizures and severe cerebral palsy. But a Tampa judge signed an order that Marie be returned to her mother, with in-home nursing care around the clock. Florida health care administrators refused to pay for it, although in-home care can be demonstrably cheaper than care in an institution.

Luo Meizhen lives with her only son, who she reportedly gave birth to at the age of 61, in Bama, south China’s Guangxi province. She was born on July 9, 1885 in the Chinese lunar calendar, which this year fell on August 25 in the international calendar.

June 20, 212 A 31-year-old man from Toronto, Canada, managed to summit Mount Kilimanjaro on Monday, June 18, relying only on his arms to propel him forward. Spencer West lost both of his legs at age 5 due to a congenital disorder, but that didn't prevent him from climbing Africa's tallest mountain at an impressive pace. In just seven days, West made it from his base camp at 6,552 feet to the summit of Kilimanjaro, which stands 19,340 feet above sea level. On some occasions, where the terrain would not permit West to climb on his hands, he used a custom wheelchair with mountain-bike style treads on the tires. However, for the majority of his journey, he moved along on his hands, with only a pair of gloves protecting him from the harsh terrain.

Birth defects are one-third more likely in babies conceived with IVF, according to studies

April 25, 2012 (NaturalNews) Technology is a wonderful thing in most cases, but sometimes doing things the old-fashioned way is not only better, it's safer too. To wit, a new study found that babies conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF) - when a mother's egg is fertilized outside her body then transplanted to her womb - are more at risk for birth defects. According to a review of scores of studies by Zhibin Hu at Nanjing Medical University in China, babies conceived that way, or by using intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) - in which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg - are one-third more likely, or 37 percent, to be born with problems or malformations. Researchers, whose findings were published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, could not find a logical reason why technology seemed to cause the additional incidents of birth defects, or even if technology was responsible. Still, in examining 46 separate bodies of research on IVF, which has been available to women for more than 30 years and which has often been the subject of research, found that in terms of having "normal" babies, replacing technology with the natural child-bearing process produces more kids with more physical and mental problems and limitations.

met a fantastic healer - and I mean fantastic - called Andreas and his friend and associate, Mike, in Germany when I spoke there in April and I immediately thought of my great friend and soul mate, Credo Mutwa, who had lost the use of his left hand and the whole left side of his body after a stroke. I arranged for Andreas and Mike to visit Credo for a week and for Andreas to perform his magical (the real laws of physics) healing on the great man. You are about to see Credo regain the use of his left hand for the first time since his stroke several months ago. If you can watch this without crying I will be surprised - I can't for sure.
(NaturalNews) Based on its track record of hiring criminals and child molesters, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) appears willing to give a job to basically anyone ... unless, of course, you are unable to grope travelers with both hands as part of the agency's enhanced pat down protocol. Former champion boxer Michael Constantino, a 32-year-old man from Queens, NY, was recently denied employment at the TSA simply because he was born with only one hand.

US pediatrician suggests government should take obese children away from their parents

(NaturalNews) A pediatrician in Boston named David Ludwig has been sharply criticized over the past week for suggesting that obese children might be taken away from their parents by state authorities for their own safety. In his article, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, he explains that taking these children away from their natural parents and putting them in foster care might, as a "last resort," be the most ethical choice. His article expresses concern about the over-use of bariatric surgery on children and teens, and he's looking for an alternative solution that would help these children avoid surgery, which is dangerous and sometimes even deadly. His suggestion that the state might take these children away from their parents in some cases, however, strikes many people as over-the-top outlandish, especially given the truth that state foster care workers are, for the most part, obese people themselves! Dr. Ludwig is a practicing physician as Boston's Children's Hospital, where he no doubt sees an endless stream of obese children come and go.

The production of the hard copies of his pictorial satire, Influence-za: An American Epidemic, is attempting to launch a micro-industry of print shops across America providing adults with special needs jobs. Roberts is determined to have the public start seeing the Abilities of this very special population rather than just focusing on their disabilities through the eyes of his startup company, Promoting disAbilities.

She slowly pushes herself out of the chair with crutches, teeters backward for a second, then leans forward – and takes a step. Soon she is walking around the warehouse in Berkeley, California, under her own direction. Boxtel is wearing a new exoskeleton called eLEGS, which could soon help people with spinal injuries to walk with a natural gait.

Traumatic brain injuries affect as many as 20 percent of warfighters returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Now the Pentagon's whiz kids at DARPA have turned to optogenetic brain implants that use light pulses to control brain cells, and hopefully reroute brain activity, Wired's Danger Room reports. Such brain implants made from electrodes or optical fibers would sit on the brain's surface and monitor the electrical signals sent among neurons. They would also beam light pulses to stimulate specific parts of the brain in response, and ideally help the brain function normally despite having damaged areas. The appropriately-named REPAIR (Reorganization and Plasticity to Accelerate Injury Recovery) project involves a team led by Stanford and Brown universities working with a two-year budget of $14.

People with Savant Syndrome have both a developmental disability (mental retardation or autism) and a spectacular, genius-level skill in a specific area. The interest in savants created by the Rain Man character resulted in several television specials on the subject that featured some of the real savants in the country. One of these individuals was Alonzo Clemons, an artist known for producing marvelous animal sculptures from memory alone.

Monday, June 22, 2009 11:25 AM WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has ruled that parents of special education students who opt for private school instead of trying the public system cannot be barred from seeking public reimbursement for their tuition costs. The court ruled 6-3 Monday in favor of a teenage boy from Oregon whose parents sought to force their local public school district to pay the $5,200 a month it cost to send their son to a private school. Federal law calls for school districts to reimburse students or their families for education costs when public schools do not have services that address or fulfill the students' needs. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the nation's special education students are entitled to a "free and appropriate public education." Schools have argued that the law says parents of special education students must give public special education programs a chance before seeking reimbursement for private school tuition.

Posted Feb. 21, 2009 Jessica Cox suffered a rare birth defect and was born without any arms. None of the prenatal tests her mother took showed there was anything wrong with her. And yet she was born with this rare congenital disease, but also with a great spirit. The psychology graduate can write, type, drive a car, brush her hair and talk on her phone simply using her feet.

Thursday 29 January 2009 As the number of veterans seeking health care continues to rise, the VA is straining to meet demands. Amid talk of a drawdown of troops in Iraq, new statistics from the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) show that US casualties are still climbing quickly. Iraq and Afghanistan battlefield injuries and deaths number 81,361, up from 72,043 last January, according to data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by Veterans for Common Sense (VCS). Veteran patients - including those who didn't seek care until their return home - shot up to 400,304 (from 263,909 in December 2007). Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) bring the horrors of the battlefield home.

The Wrongful Death of Larry Neal

Posted 9/9/08 What caused Shelby County, Tennessee Jail to ignore missing person reports for 18 days on inmate Larry Neal, while keeping this mentally ill heart patient incarcerated until his death on August 1, 2003? Was it gross negligence or euthenasia when the Jail ignored repeated calls and missing person reports for 18 days while keeping this mentally ill heart patient incarcerated until his death? Why did Shelby County Jail repeatedly and falsely report to Larry’s family and social worker during Larry’s period “missing” that neither Larry Neal nor any unidentified detainee meeting his description was incarcerated? Immediately after Larry’s burial, why did The Cochran Firm contract with Larry’s mother, Hattie Neal, to sue Shelby County Jail for wrongful death, when the Memphis office of The Cochran Firm was in fact managed by Julian Bolton, a 20-year member of the Shelby County Commission, which is the entity that owns and operates the jail where Larry died? Was it to protect Shelby County Government that The Cochran Firm merely held Larry’s wrongful death case on its shelves inactive for the next 10.5 months while the Tennessee statute of limitations on personal injury ran? Why did The Cochran Firm write letters to Larry’s mother and sister, Mary Neal, after contracting with them and lie about a vigorous investigation and legal discovery that law firm was conducting regarding Larry’s wrongful death, when the law firm was actually doing nothing to represent them? The law office located at 127 Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia is widely advertised as being the Atlanta office of The Cochran Firm. Why did this law office deny being The Cochran Firm's Atlanta office in Fulton County Superior Court when Larry's family brought suit against The Cochran Firm and served the suit to that office? If that law office is not a Cochran Firm law office, why is it allowed to be advertised as such? The Cochran Firm’s undisclosed conflict of interest, deliberate malpractice, and fraud of its clients effectively shielded Shelby County Jail from answering any Larry’s family’s questions regarding his incarceration and death. This website seeks to chronicle the journey of Larry Neal's family as they bring these injustices into the light of the public forum.
The new cases, and the number of deaths among children, have risen after "special weaponry" was used in the two massive bombing campaigns in Fallujah in 2004. After denying it at first, the Pentagon admitted in November 2005 that white phosphorous, a restricted incendiary weapon, was used a year earlier in Fallujah. In addition, depleted uranium (DU) munitions, which contain low-level radioactive waste, were used heavily in Fallujah. The Pentagon admits to having used 1,200 tonnes of DU in Iraq thus far. Many doctors believe DU to be the cause of a severe increase in the incidence of cancer in Iraq, as well as among U.

Troops are returning from the battlefield with psychological wounds, but the mental-health system that serves them makes healing difficult. Army Spec. Jeans Cruz helped capture Saddam Hussein. When he came home to the Bronx, important people called him a war hero and promised to help him start a new life. The mayor of New York, officials of his parents' home town in Puerto Rico, the borough president and other local dignitaries honored him with plaques and silk parade sashes.

Imagine waking up and realizing you are the BAD GUY, that you are the INVADER, and that you have been killing people over a lie. Could you hold onto your sanity? And if that doesn't freak you out, consider that most of these soldiers will come home to careers in law enforcement.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------A quarter of US war vets diagnosed with mental disorder: study A quarter of the Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans treated with US government-funded health care have been diagnosed with a mental disorder, according to a study published Monday. And when psychosocial disorders such as domestic violence were included, the number of war veterans suffering from mental illnesses rose to 31 percent. The instances of mental illness among recently discharged troops and members of the National Guard are significantly higher than those of a study published last year which examined active duty troops, the lead researcher told AFP.

About 2 years ago my wife and I were on a cruise through the western Mediterranean aboard a Princess liner. At dinner we noticed an elderly lady sitting alone along the rail of the grand stairway in the main dining room. I also noticed that all the staff, ships officers, waiters, busboys, etc., all seemed very familiar with this lady. I asked our waiter who the lady was, expecting to be told she owned the line, but he said he only knew that she had been on board for the last four cruises, back to back.
