May 14, 2013 In what may be the strangest story I have seen in a while related to the gold market, it appears $982 million worth of gold has left JFK international airport in New York to some undisclosed location in South Africa. While it remains unclear what purpose this gold serves, it seems the most likely explanation is to fulfill demand for Krugerrands (South Africa’s popular gold bullion coin) to meet elevated demand in the face of constricted mine production. This story is timely coming on the heels of the article I posted yesterday about how Dubai’s gold demand is running at 10x normal levels. [3] This is a bizarre story, so if anyone has further color I’d love to hear it. From Quartz: Examining US trade data, we were surprised to see that South Africa’s $402 million trade surplus with the United States in January had turned into a $689 million deficit by March.

Human Freedom Rests on Gold Redeemable Money

May 14, 2013 Is there a connection between Human Freedom and A Gold Redeemable Money? At first glance it would seem that money belongs to the world of economics and human freedom to the political sphere. But when you recall that one of the first moves by Lenin, Mussolini and Hitler was to outlaw individual ownership of gold, you begin to sense that there may be some connection between money, redeemable in gold, and the rare prize known as human liberty. Also, when you find that Lenin declared and demonstrated that a sure way to overturn the existing social order and bring about communism was by printing press paper money, then again you are impressed with the possibility of a relationship between a gold-backed money and human freedom. In that case then certainly you and I as Americans should know the connection. We must find it even if money is a difficult and tricky subject.

May 3, 2013 PHOENIX (Reuters) - Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed a measure on Thursday that would have made gold and silver legal tender in the state, saying the legislation could have resulted in lost tax revenue. The Republican-controlled state legislature voted through the measure last month in a response to what backers said was a lack of confidence in the international monetary system. The bill called for Arizona to make gold and silver coins and bullion legal tender beginning in mid-2014, joining existing U.S. currency issued by the federal government.

April 23, 2013 We have been reporting extensively on the terminal disconnect between the paper gold market, which tumbled ten days ago for a variety of reasons, and the physical gold market which one can safely say, has seen a record surge in demand by those who wish to take advantage of the tumbling prices, depleting inventories of gold and silver in virtually all jurisdictions, and leading to the a record purchase of gold in the US mint a week ago as also reported here. Today, we learn that, as expected, none other than the US Mint has officially run out of small denomination gold coins, in this case One-Tenth ounce American Eagle gold bullion coins. We are confident this incontrovertible proof of soaring retail demand for physical will somehow result in JPM or another bullion bank dumping a few extra thousands ounces of paper/electronic gold or silver to further disconnect the paper price from what is actually going on with physical demand. As for the US Mint, first it's fractions of an ounce: look forward to the mint running out of all bullion denominations in the coming days and week, first in gold, then in silver as well.
April 17, 2013 NOTE: Gold weights are based on metric tons and Troy ounces. 500 metric tons of gold would be 16,075,000 troy ounces. This changes the arithmetic slightly but not the point I was the first to point out that the Federal Reserve was rigging all markets, not merely bond prices and interest rates, and that the Fed is rigging the bullion market in order to protect the US dollar’s exchange value, which is threatened by the Fed’s quantitative easing. With the Fed adding to the supply of dollars faster than the demand for dollars is increasing, the price or exchange value of the dollar is set up to fall. A fall in the dollar’s exchange rate would push up import prices and, thereby, domestic inflation, and the Fed would lose control over interest rates.

Alpril 15, 2013 Gold plunged the most in 33 years amid record-high trading as an unexpected slowdown in China’s economic expansion sparked a commodity selloff from investors concerned that more cash will be needed to cover positions. China’s economy in the first quarter grew less than forecast by economists, government data showed today. The minimum amount of cash for borrowing from brokers to trade gold futures on the Comex may increase after prices plummeted 13 percent, or more than $200 an ounce, in two sessions. Silver, platinum and palladium slumped, and a gauge of 24 commodities fell to the lowest since July. On April 12, gold slumped into a bear market on concern that Cyprus may sell bullion holdings to cover a bailout, and the Federal Reserve signaled that that U.

Per Bloomberg: "Paulson has roughly $9.5 billion invested across his hedge funds, of which about 85 percent is invested in gold share classes. Gold dropped 4.1 percent today, shaving about $328 million from his net worth on this bet alone.

April 11, 2013 President Obama wants to make sure that people don’t save “more than is needed,” and his budget proposal includes steps that would limit the amount of money individuals can have in their retirement accounts. from Bloomberg: President Barack Obama’s budget proposal would cap multimillion-dollar tax-favored retirement accounts like the one held by Mitt Romney, his Republican rival in 2012. Obama’s budget plan, to be unveiled April 10, would prohibit taxpayers from accumulating more than $3 million in an individual retirement account. That proposal would generate $9 billion in revenue for the Treasury over the next decade, according to a White House statement released today. “Under current rules, some wealthy individuals are able to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving,” the statement said.

April 10, 2013 (NaturalNews) In what has to be the most accurate currency crash prediction ever made, bitcoin crashed today from $266 to a low of $105 in a rapid "free fall" market crash pattern, erasing $1 billion in currency valuation in a matter of hours. I openly and publicly predicted all this would occur yesterday, in both a Natural News article as well as national radio via the Alex Jones Show broadcast aired on over 120 am stations. But the real story here isn't that I accurately made this dire prediction less than 24 hours before it took place; the real story is that this crash was almost certainly caused by a covert central bank "stress test" of the pliability of the bitcoin market. That's all explained below. (This is a Natural News exclusive.

March 25, 2013 Yesterday the Wall Street Journal published an article entitled “Web Money Gets Laundering Rule,” an article framed in typical central bank newspeak warning of money laundering and growing “concerns” that new forms of cash bought on the Internet might be used to fund illicit activities. [1] This concern for possible laundering and illicit activities is banker newspeak indicating that banksters are really concerned about the possibility people might be able to escape the global web of banking activity spying and find a way out of debt slavery caused by central bank controlled currencies. Furthermore the bankers worry bitcoin [2], the virtual currency in question, might actually provide a way to independently and objectively value banker currencies in terms of purchasing power - not just relative values between managed banker currencies, which have no tight correlation with purchasing power. And, a derivative of providing an objective measure of cartel-controlled currency purchasing power is that wealth can be transferred into bitcoin, where its purchasing power can remain reasonably stable. In fact, if bitcoin survives, the purchasing power of bitcoins will rise over time.

March 26, 2013 A member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors left his notebook at a local gentlemen’s club. We present this incomplete memo, found in said notebook, without comment as it speaks for itself. Memo: internal use only Fedcoin: A centrally-issued alternative to peer-to-peer currencies The biggest problem with the so called “virtual currencies” is that we, the Federal Reserve and our associates, are cut out of the money creation process. Unless we can all get good at Bitcoin mining soon, we’re ruined. Since its’s hard to get Ben to even switch from his AOL account, our friends in Creative Finance have suggested a possible solution: Fedcoin.

March 22, 2013 This is one of the most interesting stories I have read regarding the precious metals market in quite some time. It appears that Texas Rep. Giovanni Capriglione has a bill in play that would move the state’s gold from New York (where its under the “safekeeping” of the ultra shady Federal Reserve) to a depository within the state of Texas itself. The reason this would be such a big deal if it happens, is because a lot of the gold bought and sold globally is very likely not actually owned by those that “buy” it. From my perspective, pretty much the only countries that actually buy gold and bring it within their borders are China, Russia and Iran.

March 20, 2013 Earthquakes have the Midas touch, a new study claims. Water in faults vaporizes during an earthquake, depositing gold, according to a model published in the March 17 issue of the journal Nature Geoscience. The model provides a quantitative mechanism for the link between gold and quartz seen in many of the world’s gold deposits, said Dion Weatherley, a geophysicist at the University of Queensland in Australia and lead author of the study. When an earthquake strikes, it moves along a rupture in the ground — a fracture called a fault. Big faults can have many small fractures along their length, connected by jogs that appear as rectangular voids.

March 22, 2013 Efforts to revive the JPMorgan Chase & Company (NYSE:JPM) silver manipulation case have failed — and much faster than lead counsel Christopher Lovell expected. The case was dismissed in December after Judge Robert Patterson deemed the complaint against JPMorgan too weak. The plaintiffs submitted a proposed amended complaint last month in an effort to keep the matter alive. Lovell expected the court’s decision to take six months. “None of the allegations added by plaintiffs in the proposed amended complaint cure the pleading deficiencies that led to the dismissal of the plaintiffs’ first complaint for failure to state a claim,” Patterson wrote in his decision, according to Bloomberg.

March 21, 2013 Deposit and paper are the money of of the all-middle-class citizenry of a republic. Gold is the money of kings; Silver is the money of gentlemen; Barter is the money of peasants; But debt is the money of slaves.” - Norman Franz In order to circulate abroad in any quantity, a currency must become widely available there. How is that possible without a large entrenched deficit on foreign trade? Is not therefore the common use of a currency in world trade a sign in itself that the issuing country’s best days are over? It was reported today, that the Chinese government has objections against the permanent use of the US dollar for world trade and would like to see it gradually replaced by China’s own currency. But isn’t this idea based on a misconception? Their currency may now be perceived as strong, but wouldn’t it be necessary to destroy that strength before its widespread use in world trade becomes possible? - Rubin Bartlett http://crisisboom.

Feb. 26, 2013 A Steve Quayle reader has reported that the 2 dozen gold Krugerrands he kept stored in his safety deposit box in a Cincinnati 5/3rd Bank have been confiscated, and that the 5/3 Bank Manager informed him that a CIA agent was the culprit who cleaned out his stash of phyzz- but that all fiat dollars were left untouched in the box. While this in an anecdotal account, this emphasizes a point we have long made here at SD: if you don’t hold it, you don’t own it!
2/11/13 Instead of reducing crime, the new law will instead put a damper on the sale of gold, silver and other precious metals Last week the Houston City Council passed an ordinance requiring people who sell precious metals to be fingerprinted and photographed. According to KTRK-TV, the ordinance is “meant to help track down criminals who try to resell stolen valuables. Gold-buying businesses will now be required to photograph and fingerprint sellers as well as photograph the items that are being sold to the dealer.” In other words, citizens who sell gold will be considered criminals until they demonstrate otherwise. “It’s going to allow us the tools necessary to combat a lot of the high-end jewelry thefts that’s going on in the city, whether it’s robberies or burglaries,” Houston Police Officer Rick Barajas told the news station last Wednesday.

Feb. 24, 2013 At a recent meeting of the American Economic Association a vote was held about whether or not the United States should back its currency with gold. Not surprisingly, 100% of mainstream economists educated by our most prestigious universities were against such a measure. From the top down, there is a cult-like belief that our paper monetary system is absolute and infallible. Yet, as we have seen throughout history, and especially in the last decade, currencies backed by nothing are always debased, eventually being worth even less than the paper they’re printed on.
