Field Report from Isaac strike zone
From the Desk of: Steve Elliott, Grassfire Nation
This morning I connected with Gary LeBlanc who heads up Mercy Chefs. Gary tells me the situation on the ground in Louisiana is far worse than he even expected.
It's so bad that even the relief efforts are facing incredible obstacles. Days of rain, widespread flooding, and road closures have made this one of the most difficult relief deployments Mercy Chefs has encountered.
More than half of Louisiana is now without power and because the floodwaters are so high and the devastation is so widespread, this crisis could go on for weeks.
The good news is, Gary and his team will be delivering hot meals starting TODAY. I told Gary I would contact Grassfire team members to spread the word and help bring thousands of hot meals to the folks in Isaac's path.
+ + Just $10 can help feed a family of four
Gary says it costs about $10 to feed a family of four -- and what makes Mercy Chefs so unique is that they provide high-quality hot meals to the victims and volunteers. If you can contribute more, Gary's team can feed more people in Isaac's path.
Gary is deploying two mobile kitchens today and has volunteer chefs and helpers coming from across the country. One of our Grasfire staff members will be joining Gary's team this weekend.
This is a real opportunity for us to make a difference for families in the path of Isaac. I'm hoping the Grassfire team will step forward today in a big way.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Mercy Chefs will be serving hot meals to Isaac victims today. If you have the means to help, this is a way for you to directly impact the lives of those suffering in the path of this storm.
